Ann Wilson of Heart goes solo in Florence
It seemed safe to assume why Ann Wilson is out on the road and apart from her younger sister and longtime bandmate in Heart, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted act.
The story was well-publicized. Ann’s husband Dean Wetter plead guilty to assault after reportedly choking Nancy Wilson’s twin then-16-year-old sons during a Heart concert last year. Wetter received a suspended sentence last month.
But, remarkably, Ann says that’s not the reason for Heart’s hiatus. She explained further during a recent phone interview in advance of her solo show in Florence.
Question: Are you and Nancy of one mind when it comes to music, in terms of your tastes and what to play?
Answer: We both have our own separate tastes, but there is a big area where we have the same tastes, and when that’s functioning, she’s one of the people whose musical taste is most like mine. She’s a really good guitar player and she’s a really good singer. She’s doing a solo thing now, too, and I think she’s having a lot of fun.
