Yet another great review of the ann wilson thing Focus
A year ago Ann Wilson gave her fans a treat when she released the 4-song EP simply titled ‘The Ann Wilson Thing! #1.’ The album consisted of three covers: “For What It’s Worth” (Buffalo Springfield); “Ain’t No Way” (Aretha Franklin); “Danger Zone” (Ray Charles); and one original, “Fool No More.”
By the titled being labeled “#1,” it was pretty obvious there would be more to come, and here it is a year later, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer delivers once again.
It’s pretty much the same premise on ‘The Ann Wilson Thing! $2,’ which is subtitled ‘Focus.’ The EP from the lead singer from Heart features two striking live versions – the album opener is Jimi Hendrix’ “Manic Depression,” and the other cover is Peter Gabriel’s love letter ballad, “Don’t Give Up.” The two tracks are significant in that Wilson shows off her rock & roll pipes with the Hendrix classic, but also shows she has a more subtle, bluesier side with the Gabriel number.
