"Musicians speak a special language together. Souls touch out loud." Ann
For decades now I have been singing rock n roll. As the lead singer of Heart, thousands of songs have ripped or gentled out of my throat and I have tried to be there for every single one.
I’ve never had professional training as a singer, but was blessed to have the right high school choir teacher say the right things at the right time…things like “breathing is like pouring water into a pitcher; the water hits the bottom first and fills up. That’s the right way to breathe for control.” That made sense to me then, and later I learned that breath and power also come from the same place…the soul.
In the early days in bands as the only woman, I dealt with old fashioned situations of being seen as sexual prey; an automatically subordinate role which made it difficult to really put myself across as legitimate among male musicians. Sometime in the 1970’s I shook that off though, when I realized an artist’s real message was not emanating from hormones, but from the heart.
After many many years and miles with Heart, I still feel the same about being truthful. I will never just “phone it in” if I’m tired, moody or sad. I trust the people listening, so I just let my heart break and pour it out. They understand as human beings, and in this way we all touch something higher and deeper.
"I was born and raised on music. Its like breathing to me. Singing is an extension of thinking and speaking."

“Ann Wilson of Heart is a blessing. Being involved with it has been unique and powerful experience. Ask yourself this ... “If I could help pick songs to hear the greatest female rock singer perform AND stand along side of her while she’s doing it, what would they be?”. I think you get my point. These shows are an open canvas where anything magical can happen. And it will.”
Andy Stoller has performed and recorded with a wide range of artists, including Tracy Chapman, Chuck Prophet, Pete Droge, Wayne Horvitz, Penelope Houston, Mike McCready and many more. “A few years ago, Mike McCready asked me to play bass on a gig with him and Ann at the Showbox here in Seattle. The energy was electric. We did it again a month later in a more intimate setting with the Total Experience Gospel Choir. It was truly exquisite. I knew then that this would be a ‘Thing,’ and I’m so grateful that I get to be a part of it. It’s amazing to play with Ann, not only because of her legendary voice and presence; but the music she chose to play is the very music that inspired me to become a musician in the first place.”
Dan has been playing keyboards as long as he can remember. He has served as a touring sideman, session musician, and occasionally as a co-writer for artists across a wide swath of genres including hard rock, hip-hop, blues, country, jazz, and folk, with artists including LeRoy Bell, K.C. Clifford, John Fullbright, Aranda, Ian Moore, David Bromberg, Lincoln Barr, Jami Smith, Smokey & the Mirror, Chris Staples, Widower, Matt Alber, and many others.
In 2014, he fulfilled a childhood dream of appearing as a sideman on The Late Show with David Letterman, appearing with John Fullbright less than a year before Letterman’s retirement. At various special events, and aboard the Cayamo 2015 and 2016 sailings, he's had the pleasure of backing up Jackson Browne, Dave Alvin, Shawn Colvin, Keb’ Mo’, Shawn Mullins, Birds of Chicago, Steve Ripley, Jimmy LaFave, JD McPherson, Hanson, Elizabeth Cook, Red Dirt Rangers, Kristi Rose, John Calvin Abney, Andrew Duhon, and more.
"I've always been a fan of Ann's voice, and love the songs that she and Craig have chosen for this tour, so being part of this project is the thrill of a lifetime. I'm just as thrilled to be working with Craig, Denny, and Andy, as all three have worked on records that were extremely influential for me. Music has the power to transport and heal those who listen, and the same goes for those playing it too. I can't imagine my life without music, and I'm grateful for it every day."
